Enroll A Child
Did you know that a study for Big Brothers Big Sisters found that youth matched with a mentor:
- are more confident
- are more likely to steer clear of drugs and alcohol
- do better in school
- get along better with their family and friends
- feel better about themselves?
Could your little use a Big?
When it comes to the future of our children and the well-being of our communities, we’re all in this together. So it should come as no surprise that we need the parents and guardians of Littles to be involved every step of the way, starting with the initial match.
At BBBSMT we partner with you to find a mentor who will ignite your child’s potential, expand their horizons, or help them zero in on and achieve their goals
Our mentoring programs are available for young people, 6-16 years of age, from all backgrounds. We encourage you to review our Mentor Programs page above to determine which program might be the best fit for your child.
We Serve All Kids
We are a BIG family and are committed to defending the unique potential of all youth. We seek Bigs and Littles of every race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, and socioeconomic status.
Our goal is to find the right mentor for each and every young person in our program. To do this, we have a formal enrollment process that includes an orientation and interview with you and your child. The information we gather helps us match you and your child with the mentor that best fits your goals and desires.
Child safety is our priority.
Big Brothers Big Sisters’ standards of child safety are recognized nationally as the benchmark for volunteer onboarding.
All potential mentor applications go through careful screening process that includes
- In-person interview
- Layered national criminal background checks
- National and state sex offender registry checks
- In-person training
- Reference checks from employers, family and friends
- Routine ongoing support and monitoring of mentoring relationship conducted by an assigned Match Support Specialist
