A partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters and the National Senior Service Corporation, volunteers age 55 and over provide elementary through middle school age Littles with one-to-one time and attention in their schools, typically once a week during the academic year.
How it works
Educators identify young people who can benefit most from interaction with a caring adult. As their friendships evolve, volunteers and children discover ways to make school and learning fun.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee is currently implementing the RSVP Program in Robertson, Dickson, and Cheatham counties in Tennessee. The majority of RSVP volunteers spend their time with their Little Brother or Sister in area elementary, intermediate, and middle schools.
We currently partner with the following schools:
Cheatham Park Elementary
Robert W. Woodall Elementary
Ashland City Elementary
East Cheatham Elementary
Pleasant View Elementary
West Cheatham Elementary
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
words from a volunteer
“It has kept me from sitting at home. As I get older I find that I need to be around younger people, especially a child who needs me!”
