The Program

What is the Ambassador Program?

BBBSMT Ambassadors are passionate community advocates who go out to recruit the mentors — “Bigs” — who change the lives of young people. You don’t mentor directly. You make mentorship possible at scale.

Every Big you recruit means one more child gets the consistent, caring adult they need to thrive. You are the pipeline.

  • Host outreach events on campus, at workplaces, and in faith communities
  • Share the BBBS mission through presentations, tabling, and social media
  • Actively recruit and refer potential mentors (“Bigs”) to the program
  • Build lasting partnerships with campus organizations and community groups
  • Track your referrals and see the mentorship matches you helped create

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about our Ambassador Program

Ambassadors are asked to commit to one visibility or community event per month. These events take place in any of our eight counties and can be morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend events. We will work with your schedule to assign you events each month. We also recognize that some months are busier than others, holidays occur, or colleges are on break. Each Ambassador is asked to complete one event per month but has to complete a minimum of 10 over the course of their 1 year term.

No. We provide full training before your first event. All you need is passion for mentorship and the willingness to talk to people.

You are volunteering your time as part of this program; however, we will provide a total stipend of $500 for the year paid in two installments halfway through your term and at the conclusion to account for your commute to events.

Absolutely — most Ambassadors are students or working professionals. The flexible commitment is built for busy people. You set your own schedule with your coordinator.

A dedicated BBBS staff coordinator, full toolkit (slides, talking points, event materials), a peer cohort, and monthly check-ins. You’re not figuring this out alone.

You do not have to be an active Big to be an Ambassador; however, only Bigs, Littles, or Parent/Guardians who have completed at least one match cycle (considered at minimum a one-time Alumni) are eligible to be Ambassadors.
